The Marksmanship Team competes by firing the Daisy Avanti series pellet rifles in three shooting positions at a target 10 meters away. The targets are scored out of a possible 300 points. The competitions are usually postal competitions. This does not mean they go crazy on a rampage. It means they shoot the targets and then mail them in for scoring. One of the bigger postals the team participates in is the Area 08 postal. Bogalusa hosts a drill meet every year in which marksmanship is a large event, as well.
